More than a dance studio. A dance Family.

When our studio was founded, our family was navigating something we never expected. My daughter was living learning to navigate the challenges that come with a chronic illness, and despite her love for dance, finding a studio that would support her changing abilities proved difficult. We wanted her to have a place where she could continue to dance, grow, compete, and simply be herself—without having to fit into someone else’s definition of what a dancer should look like.

So, Impulse Dance Academy was created.

What began as a place for one dancer quickly became a community for many. We built our studio around small class sizes, individualized attention, and a structured yet encouraging environment where dancers of all ages, levels, and abilities can thrive. We believe that every dancer deserves to be challenged, celebrated, and given the opportunity to discover their own potential.

At Impulse, inclusion isn't simply something we talk about. It is part of who we are and how our studio came to be.

We are proud to offer a family-friendly dance environment where music, costumes, choreography, and instruction are thoughtfully chosen with our dancers and families in mind. Most importantly, we want every dancer who walks through our doors to feel seen, supported, and valued.

Today, our daughter continues to dance and teach, and her journey has become an inspiration far beyond our family. Her story shows students that dance is about more than perfect technique or performance. It's about confidence. It's about friendship. It's about perseverance. It's about finding your people.

Competitive Or Recreational

Impulse Competitive Team

The Impulse Competitive Team is designed for dancers who are ready to take their training to the next level through dedicated weekly instruction, performance opportunities, and the challenge of competition.

Our competitive dancers commit to required weekly technique and choreography classes, allowing them to build strong technique, performance skills, confidence, teamwork, and discipline throughout the season. The team participates in one convention, two regional competitions each season, with the opportunity to attend Nationals every other year and other optional competitions for solos throughout the season.

While competition is an exciting part of the experience, our goal goes beyond trophies and scores. We want our competitive dancers to learn how to work together, push through challenges, celebrate one another, and develop a lasting love and appreciation for dance.

The Competitive Team is a great fit for dancers who are looking for a structured commitment, additional training, and the opportunity to experience dance competition as part of a team.

Impulse Recreational Classes

Our Recreational Classes are designed for dancers who want to experience the joy of performing while maintaining the flexibility to fit dance into their individual schedules.

There are no minimum weekly training requirements, allowing dancers and families to choose the level of participation that works best for them. Recreational dancers have the option to participate in two annual studio performances, giving them the opportunity to share their hard work and love of dance on stage without the commitment of competitive dance.

Whether a dancer is brand new to dance, balancing other activities, or simply wants a fun and encouraging way to keep dancing, our Recreational Classes provide a welcoming place to learn, grow, make friends, and enjoy being part of the Impulse community.

There is no one “right” way to be a dancer. Our Recreational Classes are about finding the balance that works for you.
